In praise of Rosemary

The award-winning Rosemary Vineyard on the Isle of Wight, UK here

Page added on 14 May 2011 during use of its touring park while on holiday.  Updated 22 May....

Grape varieties here      Wheels within wheels? here  Grape map here  Tell readers about your visited vineyards here.

The main page development activity at present takes place in this Drink section of the website.  During the planning of the holiday, my wife and I decided to stay at one of the two vineyards on the Island.  Reasons for choosing a vineyard as our base centre on developing some of the pages in this section.  The descriptors page here is prominent.

All the staff and the proprietor were welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable  and keen to ensure that every visitor enjoys the visit to the full.  The first morning of our holiday was spent in the vineyard visitor centre and we tagged on to a party which had arrived by coach for its first tasting session. The host was Jane who explained five wines and other drinks.  She made it clear that she is not a wine-drinker but delivered a very informative and entertaining presentation.  She really ought to be on the stage.

The party then proceeded to the production area and the shop.  People wandered around looking at the vats and bottling plant before sitting down to watch the video.  Armed with all the information they needed, the party could choose their wine and juices after a full and free tasting of anything and everything they were interested in.  Most went on to enjoy a snack and cup of something in the cafe before happily reboarding their coach.

When we return to the mainland, our next goal is to visit more vineyards in the UK.  Rosemary  is going to take a lot of beating!  Our next stop [and with motorhome]  may produce a new page - "In praise of Parva" here.  We will try to arrive during Welsh Wine week here and here where it says:

In order to celebrate how many great fine wines from Wales there are, the region has established Welsh Wine Week which takes place during the first week of June every year.  During this time period the vineyards allow visitors to come to the institutions and see both how wine is made and grown. There are also a variety of tastings and special events that take place during this time period making this time period a great choice for a holiday if you want to find out more about fine wines from Wales.    The Parva Farm Vineyard page gives: Welsh Wine Week - Sat. 28th May until Sun. 5th June
